Arrived Alive!!!

The title of this post was the sign we saw while exiting the airport at Trinidad and Tobago around midnight last night, we took a picture, but we have dial up here at the need greater house and i am running out of battery (we are experiencing our first brown out)...so i'll make it short and sweet! We ended up staying at a cute little hotel just outside Port of Spain, Trinidad....getting our last night of AC cooled sleep! Woke up around 5 30 and headed back to the airport to get our flight to Georgetown. Arrived and 2 brothers met us and took us to another bus which then took us to the ferry to New Amsterdam. It's a quaint beautiful country, lots of dogs, cats, sheep, cows in the road... we had to brake hard and swerve to avoid them! We (our driver) got a speeding ticket on the way to the ferry...they hide out behind bushes just like in Pembroke Pines! My mosquito net is up, my flashlight is in my hand, and i'm ready to tackle my first night in Guyana. I've never sweat SO MUCH in my life.... but it's going to be great. Miss you all, love you all... keep all of us down here in your prayers as you are in mine.

The Countdown is ON!!!!

8 days remain until i depart for Guyana, South America... i've been so excited for months, on a constant high, and i guess the past 2 weeks it has really sunken in. I left NYC, my friends, congregation, job.... come home and reconnected with my family, worked a little, planned a LOT (well, meg is the best planner EVER..i can't take credit) and now it's nearly here. I have a feeling that best can be described as anxious/excited/nervous/petrified/nostalgic/bittersweet AWESOMENESS! :)

I wanted to create a forum where i could share my experiences, pictures, horror stories and adventures all in one easy place. I'm not sure what the internet connection will be like down there, but i'm hoping that it will allow me to at least update this once a week with the newest stories and pictures for those of you that want to vicariously follow along and make sure we are all doing okay!

I hope you all enjoy, and are able to share in this amazing experience with me. Thanks for all your support, and I will see you at the end of the summer!
